1. 個人情報の収集について

本アプリ（Eijiroid）は、お名前、住所、電話番号、メールアドレスなどの個人情報を収集しません（お客様が送るお問い合わせのメールは除きます。6 をご覧ください）。

検索した語、検索履歴、ブックマーク、学習の記録など、アプリの中で作られるデータは、お客様の端末の中にだけ保存し、本アプリが外部へ送ることはありません。ただし、ブックマークは、お客様がバックアップを行ったときだけ、お客様ご自身の Google ドライブにも保存されます（4 をご覧ください）。

本アプリは広告を表示しません。お客様の情報を販売したり、広告に使ったりすることもありません。

2. 通信について

辞書の検索は端末の中で処理するため、辞書のダウンロードが済めばオフラインで使えます。検索した語が外部のサーバーへ送られることはありません。

本アプリが通信するのは、次の場合です。

  • 辞書データのダウンロードと、ダウンロード回数の管理（Firebase、Cloud Firestore。3 をご覧ください）
  • 辞書の購入と、購入済みかどうかの確認（Google Play。3 をご覧ください）
  • Google ドライブを使ったブックマークのバックアップ・復元（お客様が Google ドライブの画面を開いたときだけ。4 をご覧ください）
  • 「カメラで引く」の文字認識のデータの入手と、利用の統計の送信（Google Play 開発者サービス、ML Kit。5 をご覧ください）

本アプリが行う通信（辞書のダウンロード、Firestore、Google ドライブ）は、暗号化（HTTPS）されます。通信の際は、接続先に端末の IP アドレスが伝わります。

Firestore への通信には、Firebase のライブラリが、端末のメーカーと機種、Android の版、アプリの入手元（Google Play など）、ライブラリの版を付けて送ります。Google Play の課金のライブラリも、アプリと端末の情報を Google へ送ることがあります。

これらのサービスはいずれも Google が提供しており、Google での情報の扱いは Google のプライバシーポリシー（https://policies.google.com/privacy）によります。

辞書の本文のリンクや設定の「ホームページ」を押したときはブラウザで開き、共有ボタンを押したときはお客様が選んだアプリに内容を渡します。その先での扱いは、それぞれのアプリやサイトによります。発音の読み上げには端末の音声読み上げ機能を使い、読み上げる語をその機能に渡します。読み上げ機能が通信するかどうかは、お使いの読み上げ機能によります。

以前の版について：6.0.1 より前の版は、版によって Google Analytics、Firebase Analytics、Firebase Crash Reporting、Firebase Performance Monitoring を含んでおり、利用状況・クラッシュ・性能の統計を Google へ送ることがありました。一部の版は、辞書をダウンロードしたときに、Google Play の注文番号（一部の版では購入日時から作った識別子）と辞書の版を Firebase Analytics へ送っていました。また 4.x の版は、ダウンロード回数の確認のため、Google Play の注文番号を開発者のサーバー（Google App Engine）へ送っていました。6.0.1 以降の版は、これらの SDK を含まず、このサーバーも使いません（3 のダウンロードの記録は除きます）。

3. 辞書の購入とダウンロード

辞書の購入には Google Play の課金の仕組み（Google Play Billing）を使います。お支払いの情報は Google Play の画面で入力するもので、本アプリが受け取ることはありません。購入の記録は Google Play が管理します。本アプリは、購入済みかどうかを確かめるため、購入の画面を表示したとき（体験版では起動したときにも表示されます）と購入したときに、Google Play に購入の状況を問い合わせます。また、設定の「お問い合わせ」を選んだときも、メールに購入した商品と購入日を入れるために問い合わせます。

辞書データは Firebase（Google のサービス）のサーバーからダウンロードします。このとき送るのは、ダウンロードする辞書の版や、途中から再開するときの再開位置などです。本アプリがお客様や購入を識別する情報を付けることはありません。

購入した辞書をダウンロードするときは、ダウンロード回数の上限を管理するため、次の記録を Google Cloud Firestore に保存します。

  • 購入日時から作った識別子
  • ダウンロードした回数
  • 最初に記録した日時と、最後に更新した日時
  • ダウンロードを終えた辞書の版
  • 上限を超えてダウンロードしようとしたときは、その日時

これらの記録には、お名前、メールアドレス、Google アカウント、Google Play の注文番号は含みません。

この記録はダウンロードに必要なため、記録を確かめられないときや作れないときは、ダウンロードできません。体験版（トライアル）のダウンロードでは記録を作らず、上限の設定を読むだけです。

4. Google ドライブへのバックアップ

ブックマークは、お客様が操作したときだけ、お客様ご自身の Google ドライブにバックアップできます。

  • Google ドライブの画面を開くと、まだ許可していない場合は、Google アカウントを選び、本アプリが Google ドライブを使うことを許可するよう求められます。許可の範囲は、本アプリで使うファイルだけ（drive.file）です。
  • バックアップでは、ブックマークのデータ（見出し語、訳、登録日時など）を zip ファイルにまとめ、お客様の Google ドライブ（マイドライブ）に保存します。
  • 復元では、お客様が選んだファイルを読み込み、端末のブックマークと置き換えます。削除では、選んだファイルを Google ドライブから削除します。
  • 画面に表示するため、お客様の Google アカウントのメールアドレスを Google ドライブから取得しますが、端末に保存したり開発者へ送ったりはしません。
  • サインアウトすると、本アプリへの Google ドライブの利用の許可の取り消しを Google に求めます。許可は Google アカウントの設定からも取り消せます。

バックアップしたファイルは開発者には届かず、お客様の Google ドライブの中で管理されます。

5. カメラで引く

「カメラで引く」は、写真や画像の中の英文を読み取って辞書を引く機能です。

  • 撮影には端末のカメラアプリを、画像を選ぶときは Android の写真の選択画面を使います。このため、本アプリはカメラや写真へのアクセスの権限を求めません。
  • 文字の読み取りは、Google の ML Kit（Google Play 開発者サービスの文字認識）を使い、端末の中で行います。写真・画像と読み取った文字は、外部へ送りません。
  • 撮った写真は本アプリの一時保存領域（キャッシュ）に置き、文字を読み終えたとき、読み取れなかったとき、撮影を取り消したとき、画面を閉じたときに削除します。アプリが途中で終了するなどして残った写真は、次に「文章まるごと引き」または「カメラで引く」を開いたときに削除します。お客様が選んだ画像は読み取るだけで、コピーも削除もしません。
  • 文字認識のデータ（モデル）は、Google Play 開発者サービスが Google から入手します。
  • ML Kit は、不具合の調査と利用状況の分析のため、次の情報を Google へ送ります。端末の情報（メーカー、機種、OS の版とビルド、機械学習に使えるハードウェア）、アプリの情報（パッケージ名、版）、インストールごとの識別子（お客様や端末そのものを特定するためのものではありません）と端末の識別子、処理時間などの性能の測定値、API の設定（画像の形式と解像度）、入力と出力の大きさ、機能の版、イベントの種類（初期化、モデルのダウンロード、読み取りなど）とエラーコードです。
  • Google によると、これらは暗号化（HTTPS）して送られ、第三者には渡されません。詳しくは ML Kit の説明（https://developers.google.com/ml-kit/android-data-disclosure）をご覧ください。

6. お問い合わせのメール

設定の「お問い合わせ」を選ぶと、お客様のメールアプリが開き、開発者（eijiroid@gmail.com）宛てのメールが作られます。本文には、調査のため次の情報があらかじめ入っています。

  • 日時、アプリの版、辞書の版、辞書ファイルの保存場所、体験版かどうかなどの設定
  • 購入した商品の ID と購入日
  • 画面の大きさと解像度
  • 端末の情報（メーカー、機種、Android の版とビルドなど）

送りたくない情報は、送る前に削除できます。メールは、お客様がメールアプリで送信したときだけ送られます。メールを送ると、お客様のメールアドレス（メールアプリが付ける場合はお名前も）と本文が開発者に届きます。いただいたメールは、お問い合わせへの回答と不具合の調査に使います。

7. 権限の使用について

本アプリが使う権限は次のとおりです。

  • インターネット接続：2 に書いた通信のため
  • ネットワークの状態の確認：ダウンロードの前に、接続の有無や種類を確かめるため
  • Google Play の課金：辞書の購入のため

このほか、ストレージへの書き込みの権限（WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE）を宣言していますが、本アプリがこの許可を求めることはありません。辞書データは本アプリ専用の保存領域に置き、それ以外のファイルにはアクセスしません（5 でお客様が選んだ画像を除きます）。

カメラ、写真、位置情報、連絡先、アカウントへのアクセスの権限は求めません。広告 ID も使いません。

8. データの保存期間と削除

  • 検索履歴やブックマークは、アプリの中で削除できます。アプリをアンインストールすると、本アプリの保存領域にあるデータは削除されます。
  • Google ドライブのバックアップは、お客様が削除するまで、お客様の Google ドライブに残ります。本アプリの Google ドライブの画面か、Google ドライブから削除できます。
  • ダウンロードの記録（3 をご覧ください）は、ダウンロードの上限の管理のために保存しており、自動では削除しません。削除をご希望の場合は、設定の「お問い合わせ」からご連絡ください。本文には購入日が記入されますが、記録を特定するため、購入の日時などをお尋ねすることがあります。
  • お問い合わせのメールは、開発者のメールボックスに残ります。削除をご希望の場合はお知らせください。
  • Google Play、Firebase、ML Kit を通じて Google が保存する情報は、Google のプライバシーポリシー（2 をご覧ください）に従って扱われます。

1. Personal Information

Eijiroid does not collect personal information such as your name, address, phone number or email address, except when you send us an inquiry email (see 6).

Data created in the app, such as the words you search, your search history, bookmarks and study records, is stored only on your device, and the app does not send it anywhere. The one exception is bookmarks: when you back them up, they are also saved to your own Google Drive (see 4).

The app shows no ads. We do not sell your information or use it for advertising.

2. Communication

Dictionary searches are processed on your device, so once the dictionary is downloaded, the app works offline. Your search words are never sent to external servers.

The app communicates only in the following cases:

  • Downloading dictionary data and managing the download count (Firebase and Cloud Firestore; see 3)
  • Purchasing dictionaries and checking your purchases (Google Play; see 3)
  • Backing up and restoring bookmarks with Google Drive, only when you open the Google Drive screen (see 4)
  • Obtaining the text recognition model and sending usage statistics for "Look up with camera" (Google Play services and ML Kit; see 5)

The app's own communication (dictionary downloads, Firestore and Google Drive) is encrypted (HTTPS). When the app connects, the server receives your device's IP address.

When the app communicates with Firestore, the Firebase library attaches your device's manufacturer and model, the Android version, where the app was installed from (such as Google Play) and the library versions. The Google Play billing library may also send app and device information to Google.

All of these services are provided by Google, and Google handles this information under the Google Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy).

Links in dictionary entries and "Website" in the settings open in your browser, and the share button passes the content to an app you choose. How those apps and sites handle it is up to them. Pronunciation uses your device's text-to-speech feature, and the word to be read aloud is passed to it. Whether it uses the network depends on the text-to-speech engine you use.

About earlier versions: depending on the version, versions before 6.0.1 included Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crash Reporting and Firebase Performance Monitoring, and could send usage, crash and performance statistics to Google. Some versions also sent the Google Play order number (in some versions, the purchase-time identifier) and the dictionary version to Firebase Analytics when a dictionary was downloaded. Versions 4.x sent the Google Play order number to the developer's server (Google App Engine) to check the download count. Version 6.0.1 and later include none of these SDKs and do not use that server (apart from the download record described in 3).

3. Purchases and Downloads

Dictionaries are purchased through Google Play Billing. You enter your payment details in Google Play's screens, and the app never receives them. Google Play keeps the purchase records. To check whether you have purchased a dictionary, the app asks Google Play about your purchases when the purchase screen is shown (in the trial version it is also shown at startup) and when you make a purchase. It also asks when you choose "Inquiry" in the settings, to fill in your purchased products and purchase dates in the email.

Dictionary data is downloaded from the servers of Firebase, a Google service. The request includes the dictionary version being downloaded and, when resuming, where to resume from. The app does not add any information that identifies you or your purchase.

When you download a purchased dictionary, the app stores the following record in Google Cloud Firestore to manage the download limit:

  • An identifier made from the date and time of purchase
  • The number of downloads
  • When the record was first created and last updated
  • The dictionary version downloaded
  • If you try to download beyond the limit, the date and time of that attempt

These records do not contain your name, email address, Google account or Google Play order number.

This record is required for downloading, so if it cannot be checked or created, the download does not proceed. Downloading the trial version creates no record; the app only reads the limit setting.

4. Google Drive Backup

You can back up your bookmarks to your own Google Drive, only when you choose to.

  • If you have not yet given permission, opening the Google Drive screen asks you to choose a Google account and allow the app to use Google Drive. Access is limited to files used with this app (drive.file).
  • A backup packs your bookmark data (headwords, translations, dates added, etc.) into a zip file and saves it in your Google Drive (My Drive).
  • A restore reads the file you choose and replaces the bookmarks on your device. Delete removes the file you choose from Google Drive.
  • To show it on screen, the app gets your Google account's email address from Google Drive. It is not saved on your device or sent to the developer.
  • Signing out asks Google to revoke the app's permission to use your Google Drive. You can also revoke it in your Google Account settings.

Backup files never reach the developer; they stay in your Google Drive.

5. Look Up with Camera

"Look up with camera" reads English text in a photo or image and looks it up in the dictionary.

  • Photos are taken with your device's camera app, and images are chosen with Android's photo picker, so the app does not request camera or photo access permissions.
  • Text is recognized on your device using Google's ML Kit (text recognition provided through Google Play services). Photos, images and recognized text are not sent anywhere.
  • A photo you take is placed in the app's temporary storage (cache) and deleted when the text has been read, when it cannot be read, when you cancel, or when you close the screen. If a photo is left behind, for example because the app was stopped by the system, it is deleted the next time you open "Look up whole text" or "Look up with camera". Images you choose are only read; the app neither copies nor deletes them.
  • The text recognition model is obtained from Google by Google Play services.
  • For diagnostics and usage analytics, ML Kit sends Google: device information (manufacturer, model, OS version and build, and available ML hardware accelerators), app information (package name and version), per-installation identifiers (not intended to identify you or your device) and a device identifier, performance metrics such as processing time, API configuration (image format and resolution), input and output sizes, the feature version, and event types (such as initialization, model download and recognition) with error codes.
  • According to Google, this data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and is not transferred to third parties. For details, see the ML Kit data disclosure (https://developers.google.com/ml-kit/android-data-disclosure).

6. Inquiry Email

Choosing "Inquiry" in the app's settings opens your mail app with an email addressed to the developer (eijiroid@gmail.com). To help us investigate, the body is prefilled with:

  • The date and time, app version, dictionary version, where the dictionary file is stored, and settings such as whether you use the trial version
  • IDs and purchase dates of the products you have bought
  • Screen size and resolution
  • Device information (manufacturer, model, Android version, build, etc.)

You can delete anything you do not want to send before sending. The email is sent only if you send it from your mail app. When you send it, the developer receives your email address (and your name, if your mail app adds it) along with the message. We use it to answer your inquiry and to investigate problems.

7. Permissions

The app uses these permissions:

  • Internet access: for the communication described in 2
  • Network state: to check whether and how you are connected before a download
  • Google Play billing: to purchase dictionaries

The app also declares the permission to write to storage (WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE), but it never asks you to grant it. Dictionary data is kept in the app's own storage area, and the app does not access other files (except images you choose in 5).

The app does not request permissions for the camera, photos, location, contacts or accounts, and does not use the advertising ID.

8. Data Retention and Deletion

  • Search history and bookmarks can be deleted in the app. Uninstalling the app deletes the data in the app's storage area.
  • Google Drive backups stay in your Google Drive until you delete them, either from the app's Google Drive screen or in Google Drive.
  • Download records (see 3) are kept to manage the download limit and are not deleted automatically. To have yours deleted, contact us from "Inquiry" in the app's settings. The email includes your purchase date, but we may ask for the purchase time to identify your record.
  • Inquiry emails remain in the developer's mailbox. Let us know if you want yours deleted.
  • Information Google keeps through Google Play, Firebase and ML Kit is handled under the Google Privacy Policy (see 2).
